............Samvidh has been a part of our daughter Damini’s life for the past four years. She is a person with Down’s syndrome. Damini started with remedial sessions at Samvidh. After a couple of years, she joined the regular school. The remedial work and prepared her to be a part of the school.
Together, we had decided that the main objective in the beginning wouldbe social adjustment and communication. We find after two years that Damini is not only well adjusted in school, she has also gained confidence in other social situations. She initiates conversation with people, establishing friendships. She has very coherent conversations on the telephone. She can also transact appropriately in shops, restaurants etc. We find that she looks forward to going to school, does not like holidays very much. She enjoys all the extracurricular activities.
The atmosphere is very relaxed, has a sense of fun. Learning is happening in a very non-threatening environment. We find her doing her homework all by herself without being told to do so. Above everything, we find that she is treated with respect.................

............My son was a student at Samvidh. After I met Dr. Akila for the first time & spoke to her regarding my son, I got the gut feeling that I had finally come to the right place & the right person! That is because I found her to be a very straight forward & no-nonsense type of a person. Once my son joined Samvidh, I could see many changes in him. He became more confident, & there was a remarkable improvement in all his other spheres too. Yoga, dance, & remedials at the school helped him a lot. The teachers were very friendly & understanding. My son actually blossomed at school. Today he is smart, confident & independent. He is what I always wanted him to be! And all this is thanks to Dr. Akila & team Samvidh !!.................
............Sourav was a student of Samvidh Centre for Eduation. First I am thankful to Madam Akila Sadasivan for providing me an opportunity to speak about the school. My son improved like anything and today he is able to Animation course. These all happened only because of madam’s true dedication.
Let me brief about him: He was first assessed by Prasanna Counseling Centre (Chamrajpet). After a brief discussion with us she suggested different level of tests. She conducted tests in different areas and concluded that he has the problem of SLD, short term memory, framing sentences, spellings, lacks concentration, difficulty in maths, poor self confidence, lack of sitting in one place for long. For this he needs remedial classes she said. We took him for the classes at Samvidh and finally joined him to the Special school at Samvidh when he was in 8th standard. Now he has completed 10th and was able to join any college course or Diploma even though he was from NIOS board. There is nothing wrong with this.
Regarding Samvidh, they encourage extra-curricular activities such as Yoga, Painting, Tai Chi and Dance. As a parent, don’t feel bad about joining or sending for counseling is very wrong. Just think of your child’s future and don’t compare with other kids. Learning Disorder is just a disorder not a disease. There is a solution for every problem. W parents must have a lot of co-operation and patience.
So once again I am very happy to say about madam. She is very much dedicated and please take her advice and give a new life to your child and your child will come up in flying colours. There is no words to express about madam. Thanking you all. .................
